I didn't understand how much those fingers and toes would change my life when I held my first child. They change so quickly, and their sense of wonder makes me yearn to see the world as they do. Full of adventure, amazing bugs, interesting shadows and never know a stranger. As their protecters we instinctively want to protect them, and never let them walk too far ahead. We shouldn't forget to document their tiny hands, big smiles, and that superhero cape they will not take off! They don't need to sit still and smile, they need to be them. You won't be chasing them forever. So let them climb that tree. Don't worry, because we both know you will be right there to catch them just in case!
